A Coat of Arms for Every Family
A delightful couple came to see Architectural Accents together with their designer. They wondered if we could design and build a stained glass coat of arms for them ; their idea was that it would represent each of their two families (houses). We decided to take on the job and set about the design forthwith.
His roots were Ukrainian , and he was a serious fencing competitor ; she was a classical musician . They had three cats and were both tied to the medical profession…

A FAMILY’S HISTORICAL ROOTS AND LIFE IN GLASS
A Coat of Arms Is More Than Just A Design
The motto was to be “ Lau Burdan”, which is Ukrainian. Between Andrew and I , we came up with this design ; Stephanie cut the glass , David hand-painted the pieces and then fired them in the kiln. Stephanie re-assembled and leaded the window , and installed the finished window into a steel frame , which we aged chemically. We were very pleased with the outcome, which was tricky to achieve.
