An spectacular view of Mt. Rainier from the Delta flight carrying us to Seattle in order to take a ferry across to Bainbridge Island, where we dropped in to see Ian, Kim and Isia before having dinner and spending the night with Frances and Don.

A Breakfast of sconces baked by Frances and Maria, with plenty left for the trip! First stop: The museum of glass in Seattle, well known by now for the Chihuly glass blowing film on the television. Stopped for the night in seaside and woke up to delicious pancakes from a wonderful machine. Then off to the route 101 down the coast through the redwoods and sequoia, passing Cannon Beach.

Lunch with the chef at Local Ocean Seafood – lovely grilled squid, halibut ceviche tacos, and Dungeness crab caught that morning.

Then off to spend the night at Tu Tu’ Tun lodge on the Rouge River, where we had a wonderful soup, salmon and chocolate with a good bottle of Columbia River wine. Waking up to fly fisherman casting for Salmon in the river in the morning.

Back onto rout 101, we marvel at the coast with rugged outcrops on our way to Carmel Valley and bump into some zebras enjoying a munch for lunch in a pasture by the coast.
